MAISON VALENTINO OPENS ITS NEW BOUTIQUE
IN PLAZA 66, SHANGHAI

Maison Valentino is pleased to announce the opening of the new Valentino boutique located at Plaza 66 in Shanghai marking an important step in the expansion of the brand’s worldwide retail network.

The Maison is having an important growth in Greater China and is redesigning the brick and mortar strategy in the market to be stronger in terms of visibility and retail experience. New store openings took place in Wuhan and Beijing in June 2023 while others are expected respectively in Nanjing in November and in Shenzhen in December of the same year, featuring 2 boutiques one of which is entirely dedicated to men. The company currently counts in the region 32 directly operated stores in 22 locations and by the end of 2023 they will be 34.

The newly renovated boutique at Plaza 66 in Shanghai, which fans out over 475 square meters on two levels, features the new store concept, developed in-house. The new blueprint originates from the brand’s desire to rethink the relationship with its clients, which becomes the crux of this design story, setting the tone for a client journey inspired by Italian hospitality, imagined as a ritual hosted by the store team throughout the spaces. The venue becomes a new home for the brand and an intimate place to welcome its clients, placing human connections at the forefront while celebrating the Maison’s iconic codes and its Italian heritage.

The new concept represents Valentino’s identity as Maison de Couture through interiors that reflect the brand’s artisanal approach and aesthetic. The floors are a combination of Botticino, Sahara Noir and Green Onyx marbles in iconic geometric motifs, contributing to the sense of warmth, elegance, and discreet luxury. The stairs that connect the second and third floors create interesting movements and perspectives thanks to their round shape. The boutique imbued with an eclectic mix of materials, palette, and details inspired by Roman buildings, offers an intimate shopping experience and distinctive service in a more comfortable environment.

Maison Valentino tapped master craftsmen to produce bespoke objects for the spaces: Massimiliano Pipolo created handmade ceramic door handles, characterized by organic shapes suspended between functionality and abstraction, while Fabio Cinti was tasked with creating geometric compositions in brass, decorative objects that merge a contemporary language with an ancient craft.

The Valentino Women’s prêt-à-porter collection, Valentino Garavani accessories and the Valentino eyewear collection are showcased through a discreet setup featuring unexpected design details and are available on the second floor while the Men’s prêt-à-porter, the men’s Valentino Garavani accessories, shoes and Valentino eyewear collections are displayed on the third floor.
